C.H. Robinson Reports Improved 4Q Profit

Transportation and third-party logistics firm C.H. Robinson Worldwide reported a fourth-quarter profit of $103.2 million, or 62 cents a share, up 17.6% from $87.7 million, or 52 cents, a year earlier.

Revenue grew 15.8% to $2.3 billion, the company said late Tuesday. Transportation revenue rose 16.3% to $341.7 million.

Truck revenue, including truckload and less-than-truckload services, gained 16.2% to $290.5 million. Truckload volumes increased 9%, while truckload margins fell due to higher fuel prices. LTL revenues grew 17%, driven by a 11% increase in shipments.

Intermodal net revenue grew 9.3% due to increased prices.



For the full 2010 year, income gained 7.3% to $387 million, from $360.8 million in previous year. Revenue grew 22.4% to $9.3 billion.
