Piacente moved to the intermodal business, which accounts for about 40% of the railroad’s shipments, from the chemicals group, where he also was vice president. Clark Robertson was named to replace Piacente at the chemicals unit, moving up from assistant vice president of regional development. In addition, Tim McNulty was named vice president of agriculture.

All three new appointees report to Executive Vice President Fredrik Eliasson.

“Dean’s record of growth, revenue generation and customer relationships makes him the ideal choice to lead intermodal, which is a significant growth driver for CSX as we work with our trucking partners,” Eliasson said.

Piacente is a 28-year veteran of CSX, while Robertson joined the company in 2010. McNulty in his new role will oversee phosphate and fertilizer shipments as well as grain and ethanol.
