CSX Transportation, Kentucky to Cooperate on Rail Security

Freight railroad CSX Transportation said it has entered into an agreement with the state of Kentucky under which state law enforcement officials will be able to track the location of CSX trains and monitor the contents of the carrier’s railcars.

The agreement provides Kentucky officials with access to CSX’s Network Operations Workstation system, which provides nationwide supply-chain visibility, the company said in a statement.

Also under the agreement, CSX said it will work with state law enforcement officials on rail security training and preparedness procedures.

The railroad said it has similar agreements in place in New Jersey and New York.

CSX Transportation is the main operating unit of CSX Corp., Jacksonville, Fla.
