Delaware Becomes 30th State to Ban Texting While Driving

Delaware has become the 30th state to ban drivers from texting or holding cell phones while driving, the Detroit News reported.

Gov. Jack Markell (D) signed the measure into law ealier this month, which carries fines on handheld cell phone use, the paper said.

Massachusetts and Iowa enacted laws July 1 banning texting and driving, with progressive fines for repeat offenses. (Click here for previous coverage.)

Michigan’s previously passed law banning texting and driving took effect July 1, with the first fines handed out this month, news services reported.
