Specialty truck maker Oshkosh Corp. said Wednesday that Detroit Diesel Corp. will supply engines to Oshkosh’s fire and emergency businesses.

DDC, a unit of Daimler Trucks North America, will provide DD13 diesel engines compliant with 2010 U.S. Environmental Protection agency emissions standards, Oshkosh said in a statement.

The engines will use selective catalytic reduction technology, and Daimler has manufactured more than 200,000 SCR diesel trucks in Europe and around the world, the statement said.

“We want to provide fire departments the option of achieving the most stringent emissions targets while maximizing engine performance and reducing fuel consumption,” said Wilson Jones, president of Oshkosh’s fire & emergency unit.

In addition to Detroit Diesel Corp., Daimler Trucks North America is the parent company of Freightliner Trucks and makes Sterling and Western Star brand trucks.
