Diesel Continues to Decline, Dipping 1.7 Cents to $2.413
Gasoline Unchanged at $2.165 a Gallon

The average retail price of diesel fuel fell 1.7 cents to $2.413 a gallon, the Energy Department reported Monday.It was the seventh straight decline, in which time diesel has fallen 20.8 cents, according to DOE figures.Diesel is now 7.6 cents below the same week last year and was at its lowest level since Aug. 8, 2005, prior to Hurricane Katrina. Last week was the first since Nov. 6 in which diesel was lower than the year-ago price.The pump price of regular gasoline, meanwhile, was unchanged at $2.165 a gallon, following four straight declines.Gasoline is now 19.2 cents below the same week last year, DOE said.Trucking’s main fuel fell saw its biggest dip in the Rocky Mountain region, where it fell 3 cents to $2.556 a gallon.The West Coast had the highest regional price, at $2.687, while California’s — a subset of the West Coast region that DOE breaks out separately — was even higher, at $2.761.The Gulf Coast had the lowest regional price, at $2.347.Each week, DOE surveys 350 diesel filling stations to compile a national snapshot average price.
