Diesel Rises 0.4¢ to $3.975 a Gallon; Gasoline Gains for 12th Straight Week
Diesel rose 0.4 cent to $3.975 a gallon, its second weekly increase following five declines, and gasoline rose for a 12th straight week, the Department of Energy reported April 28.
Gas gained 3 cents to $3.713 a gallon. The motor fuel has jumped 42.1 cents since the beginning of February and is 19.3 cents higher than the same week last year, DOE said after its weekly survey of filling stations.
Prior to its two recent increases, diesel had not risen since a half-cent increase March 10 to $4.021, its highest price in almost a year.
Trucking’s main fuel is 12.4 cents higher than the same week last year, according to DOE records.
Each week, DOE surveys about 400 diesel filling stations and 800 gasoline stations to compile national average prices.
