Diesel Rises 1.2¢ to $3.695; Gasoline Gains for Second Week

Diesel rose for the second week in a row, rising 1.2 cents to $3.695 a gallon while gasoline also rose for a second week, the Department of Energy said Monday. 

Gasoline gained 1.2 cents to $3.427, DOE said following its weekly survey of filing stations.

The diesel increase left it 23 cents below the same week last year, while gasoline is 25.5 cents below a year ago, DOE said.

Diesel and gasoline had both fallen steadily for the past three months until last week.

Oil rose $1.33 Monday to settle at a seven-week high $88.43 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange, Bloomberg reported.

Each week, DOE surveys about 350 diesel filling stations to compile a national snapshot average price.
