DOL Job Training Plan Includes Transport

he Bush administration has recently identified transportation as one of 12 high-growth industry sectors and the focus of the Department of Labor’s High Growth Job Training Initiative.

The federal government spends roughly $15 billion a year on job training and workforce planning services, but little of the funds in the past has gone to train truck drivers, in part because money is dispensed through local Workforce Investment Boards where trucking is not as well represented as other industries, according to industry officials.
