Flatbed Carriers Boyd Bros., Daseke Inc. to Merge
Flatbed carriers Boyd Bros. Transportation and Daseke Inc. announced they intend to merge. Terms were not disclosed.
The merger will create one of the largest open-deck fleets in North America, according to the companies.
“Combined with our other companies, which include Smokey Point Distributing, E.W. Wylie, J. Grady Randolph Inc., and Central Oregon Truck Co., more than 2,000 tractors and 3,600 trailers are available to our customers,” Don Daseke, CEO of Addison, Texas-based Daseke Inc., said in a statement.
“The combination puts us well into the top five in open-deck/specialty carriers, in terms of vehicle count and revenues,” he said.
The companies will remain intact with no personnel changes expected.
“While our collective group of companies will be able to achieve cost savings through the merger, the greater opportunity is through driving top-line growth,” Daseke Chief Financial Officer Scott Wheeler said in a statement. “We see very little customer or lane overlap. That’s by design and an accelerator for new business.”
Clayton, Ala.-based Boyd Bros. ranks No. 100 on the Transport Topics Top 100 list of the largest U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
