Florida Fleet Converting to Natural Gas
A Florida company said it is opening a compressed natural gas fueling station and will convert its distribution fleet to natural gas.
J.J. Taylor Cos., a Jupiter, Fla.-based beer distributor, said it ordered 43 Freightliner Business Class M2 112 CNG tractors and plans to completely convert its Tampa-based 95-tractor fleet to CNG units within three years.
The tractors are powered by a Cummins-Westport 8.9L ISL-G engine and an Allison 3000Hs transmission, and the CNG fueling station is being built by Vocational Energy, Fontana, Calif.
The new tractors will begin service at the company’s Tampa outlet this month, and plans for a second station and conversion of its 75-tractor fleet in Fort Myers, Fla., are under way.
J.J. Taylor has beer distribution operations in Tampa, Fort Myers and Fort Pierce, Fla., and in Minneapolis.
