FMCSA Says Transport Groups Prefer Incentives Over Penalties

he Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration said that people with interests in commercial transportation would prefer safe-operations incentives that emphasized rewards over those with punishments.

The federal truck-safety agency made its observations in a report summarizing six “listening sessions” FMCSA held as part of its Comprehensive Safety Analysis 2010 initiative.

The report reviewed the meetings, which were part of FMCSA’s effort to “reduce the large-truck-related fatality rate by 41% by the end of 2008."
