GeoLogic Receives Patent For Tracking Software

eoLogic Solutions, a provider of mobile communications technologies to trucking, said it received a patent for its Proximity Alert, a software package the company sells to help fleets improve their monitoring of trucks by documenting loading/unloading time for computation of possible detention charges.

The software package offers a variety of features, including geofencing, which allows fleets to receive electronic warnings should their vehicles enter or leave certain geographical areas, said Tom Cuthbertson, GeoLogic’s vice president for technology and industry relations.

Cuthbertson said Proximity Alert differs from other geofencing systems because it can record the length of time a truck is in a particular area. In addition, a user can program the system to mark fuel and odometer readings, which can be relayed to a dispatcher for tracking purposes.
