ATA Chief Renews Relationships, Including With Bush

img src="/sites/default/files/images/articles/printeditiontag_new.gif" width=120 align=right>Contacts he made while governor of Kansas with fellow governors and other officials are already proving very useful in promoting the trucking industry's agenda in Washington, American Trucking Associations’ President Bill Graves said last week.

For example, he has a good relationship with President Bush going back to Bush’s stint as governor of Texas, Graves said an interview with Transport Topics ahead of ATA’s Leadership Meeting in Washington this week.

“I consider him a friend,” said Graves, who was elected to the first of two terms as governor of Kansas the same year Bush took office in Texas in 1994.
