The U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s board has elected trucking executive John Ruan III as its vice chairman for 2010, American Trucking Associations said Friday.
Ruan is chairman and chief executive officer of Ruan Transport Corp., Des Moines, Iowa.
Ruan’s election “speaks to his leadership ability and the respect he commands from his peers,” said ATA President Bill Graves.
“It is a tremendous honor for the trucking industry to have one of our leaders in line to become chairman of the leading business organization and lobby in the nation,” he said in a statement.
Ruan “brings a wealth of experience in corporate management and governance to the Chamber,” said CoC president Thomas Donohue. “In these challenging times, experienced leadership like John’s is vital to helping the business community and Americans to get back on their feet.”
