LaHood Announces National Summit on Distracted Driving

The second National Distracted Driving Summit will be held Sept. 21 in Washington, D.C., Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood announced.

The summit will include transportation officials, safety advocates, law enforcement, industry representatives, researchers and victims affected by distracted driving-related crashes.

The first summit, held last fall, led to the Obama administration banning text messaging by federal employees while driving government-owned vehicles, using government-owned mobile devices or while driving any vehicle on official government business.
