ABS Remorques Inc., a Canadian manufacturer of live-bottomr semitrailers, announced that Manac Inc., the leading Canadian manufacturer of semitrailers, has taken a minority stake in the company.
The arrangement, terms of which were not disclosed, will enable ABS to expand its presence in both Canadian and American markets, the Asbestos, Ouebec-based company said.
“ABS’s conveyor semitrailer is absolutely complementary to our line of products,” Charles Dutil, president of Manac, said in a statement. “Additionally, the sharing of best practices and access to our sales and service network will be beneficial to both companies.”
Founded in 1987, ABS said it designs and manufactures specialized live-bottom semitrailers for aggregate materials transportation.
Manac said it is the largest manufacturer of trailers in Canada and a leader in the manufacturing of specialty trailers in North America. Manac offers vans, flatbeds and specialty trailers such as dumps, low beds, grain hoppers, chassis, chip and logging trailers, all of which are sold in Canada and the United States.
