Navistar Gets $180 Million U.K. Deal

Navistar International Corp. said Monday that its defense unit has finalized a $180 million deal with the United Kingdom to purchase 262 tactical wheeled vehicles and parts.

The units will be assembled at the company’s plant in West Point, Miss., which has produced approximately 6,000 International MaxxPro mine-resistant vehicles.

The TSV Husky units will be powered by MaxxForce engines. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in the second half of the 2009 calendar year, Navistar said in a statement.

The company last week had protested the U.S. military’s selection process for mine-resistant vehicles.
