Need to Know: Pressure Grows to Probe Driver Backgrounds

Since the 9/11 terrorist attacks, the answer seems to be: more than they know now.

And the federal government seems to agree.



While it appears likely the Transportation Security Administration will soon require criminal background checks for drivers who haul hazardous materials, motor carriers are asking for regulatory changes that will make it easier to check a driver’s history.
