Old Dominion Freight Line’s OD Global unit said Friday it is expanding its global trade management services to help importers comply with new border security regulations.

This system will allow ODFL’s U.S. import customers to comply with the new regulations set by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection regulations that took effect in January.

Under the rules, importers and vessel operating ocean carriers will be required to provide CBP with advance notification for all ocean vessel shipments inbound to the United States.

Importer security filings, or ISF, is also known as the 10+2 initiative. A CBP regulation that is part of the SAFE Port Act of 2006 Trade Act of 2002, it applies to non-bulk ocean shipments arriving into the United States.

The new requirements will dramatically change the way importers and ocean carriers conduct supply chain logistics, by making the importer solely responsible for filing 10 data elements, and vessel operating ocean carriers will be responsible for two data elements.

ODFL is ranked No. 20 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
