Official Says EPA to Keep to Low-Sulfur Fuel Timetable

img src="/sites/default/files/images/articles/printeditiontag_new.gif" width=120 align=right>WASHINGTON — An Environmental Protection Agency official said last week EPA was sticking with its June 2006 deadline for the rollout of ultra-low-sulfur diesel fuel.

“The introduction of ULSD is absolutely essential” to diesel engines redesigned to meet the EPA emission regulations scheduled to take effect in 2007 and 2010, said Jeffrey Holmstead, EPA’s assistant administrator for air and radiation.

“Questions have come up whether EPA will delay the deadline,” Holmstead said. “The answer is ‘no.’ ”
