Peterbilt Offers New Endurant Transmission

Peterbilt Motors Co. announced the new 12-speed Endurant transmission is available in the company’s 579 and 567 regional and linehaul models using the Cummins X15 Efficiency series engine in ratings up to 510 horsepower and 1,850 pound feet of torque.

Endurant is the first “core product” of a newly formed joint venture, Eaton Cummins Automated Transmission Technologies.

A cooler-free precision lubrication system, encapsulated sensors and wiring, standard 8-bolt power takeoff opening location and a 750,000-mile lube change interval are among some of the key features. The Endurant also offers a five-year or 750,000 mile warranty and a three-year or 350,000-mile clutch warranty.

“Endurant has a wide range of benefits, including its lightweight design and longer service intervals. Its integration with the column mounted shifter will make it a top choice for both fleet and owner operator customers,” Scott Newhouse, Peterbilt’s chief engineer, said in a statement.
