Prestolite Gains Three Standard Positions at DTNA Beginning in 2019
Aftermarket supplier Prestolite Electric’s IdlePro model alternator was selected by Daimler Trucks North America for standard position on new commercial vehicles set to launch in multiple markets between late 2019 and early 2020.
The alternators will be on DTNA’s Freightliner severe duty and Western Star commercial trucks in North America, as well as Freightliner brand right-hand drive trucks sold in Australia and New Zealand, according to Novi, Mich.-based Prestolite.
Prestolite IdlePro and IdlePro Extreme alternators include a variety of advanced features designed to protect engines from potentially severe electrolytic damage caused by stray voltage, according to the company.
“We’re excited for the opportunity to make this proven technology available to Daimler’s discerning customers,” Nick Laenen, Prestolite’s vice president of sales and marketing for North America, South America and Australia, said in a statement.
