Replay: LiveOnWeb on 'The Safe Driver Checklist'
Drivers know what they have to do to keep their truck safe on the road. A pre-trip inspection makes sure that their rig is ready for the rigors of the road.
What about keeping the driver safe?
Our Jan. 31 LiveOnWeb program focused on The Safe Driver Checklist. We provided the practical — and critical — tips that drivers need to stay safe in all phases of their job, from pre-trip to on-road to off-road.
Our guests included an America’s Road Team captain with 22 years and 1.5 million safe-driving miles behind the wheel: Don Biggerstaff of ABF Freight. Biggerstaff, of Lincolnton, North Carolina, has been with ABF for 37 years and is a recipient of ABF’s 25-Year Safe Driving Award.
Also joining us was Don Lefeve, president and CEO of the Commercial Vehicle Training Association of Alexandria, Virginia. CVTA is the largest association representing commercial truck driver training programs in the United States, and Lefeve is CVTA’s chief advocate before Congress, the White House, and federal regulatory agencies.
And the program included highlights from a prerecorded interview with Brett Sant, senior vice president of safety and risk management for Knight Transportation. (Watch the full interview here.)
Transport Topics government team Staff Reporter Eric Miller hosted the live program, which presented research on the characteristics of a safe driver, examined the role technology plays in assisting driver safety and asked the question: Are safe drivers born or made?
