Senate Confirms Sarah Feinberg to FRA Top Post
The Senate on Oct. 28 easily confirmed Sarah Feinberg by voice vote to head the Federal Railroad Administration.
Feinberg was most recently the FRA’s acting administrator. In June she was nominated by President Obama to lead the agency.
During a hearing in September, Feinberg told the panel she would ensure “careful and appropriate use and deployment of taxpayer dollars and resources.” The Commerce Committee has jurisdiction over trucking policies.

"This is a critical time for railroads and Americans who depend on them. Effective leadership that communicates challenges and creates accountability is critically important for our nation’s railroad safety regulator. I appreciate ranking member Bill Nelson’s assistance in reporting Ms. Feinberg’s nomination out of committee,” committee Chairman John Thune (R-S.D.) said.
Before FRA, Feinberg was chief of staff at the U.S. Department of Transportation from 2013 to 2014. She came from DOT after working at Facebook, the website where people connect with friends and post videos, as their policy and crisis communications director. Before Facebook, she was the director of global communications and business strategy at Bloomberg LP.
