Senate OKs Energy Bill With Retrofit Incentives

img src="/sites/default/files/images/articles/printeditiontag_new.gif" width=120 align=right>The U.S. Senate last week approved an energy bill that called for great use of biofuels, incentives for diesel engine retrofits and a reduction in oil consumption.

However, the bill did not include incentives for purchasers of 2007-model Class 7 and 8 trucks equipped with cleaner-burning diesel engines.

An industry analyst previously said the measure, which was backed by American Trucking Associations, could become part of the Senate’s energy legislation.
