Suppliers Say Economy’s Growth Boosts Vendors’ Business

AN ANTONIO — Industry suppliers displaying their goods and services here said a strengthening economy and other improving business conditions provided a positive backdrop for American Trucking Associations’ annual Management Conference & Exhibition.

“Business is improving,” said Leslie Berlin, president of Pegasus TransTech, a Tampa, Fla.-based document management firm that has deployed a truck stop scanning service.

Technology continues to be a major focus for fleet executives as they look for ways to reduce costs and improve service, Berlin and others here said.



ames Inglesias, executive vice president of sales and marketing for Cetaris Inc., a maker of maintenance software, said trucking company executives are finally beginning to make major buying decisions after several years of uncertainty.

“We couldn’t get people to say ‘yes’ as late as July and August. Now they are making decisions on big-ticket items; I haven’t seen that in two and a half years.”
