TCA Exhibits Technology, Services Shift

AIKOLOA, Hawaii — Technology and business services dominated the exhibition at the Truckload Carriers Association annual convention here March 14-17.

The makeup of exhibitors also seemed to reflect some shifts in market demand for products and services. However, there was not the usual display of heavy-duty tractors on the convention floor because of the expense associated with moving large displays of trucking equipment to Hawaii’s Big Island, TCA officials said.

Freight brokerage firms and intermodal service providers, such as railway Burlington Northern Santa Fe, displayed their services alongside more traditional truckload industry vendors. And computer software and mobile communications suppliers continued to be well represented at TCA.
