EW ORLEANS — The Transportation Intermediaries Association’s board of directors has condemned unauthorized rebrokering of freight and said it would try to bring the practice to an end.

At its annual meeting here Feb. 26-29, the membership authorized TIA to explore ways of documenting and shutting down what it considered to be unethical and possibly illegal activity, said TIA President Bob Voltmann.

“We’re looking for a system where we can report this activity, check it out and address issues before one takes freight,” Voltmann said. “There is no tool to do that.”

TIA represents freight brokers and forwarders, intermodal marketing and third-party logistics companies.
