It would be the first such competition for TMC, a council of American Trucking Associations. Following its annual meeting in March, TMC set up the Professional Technician Development Committee to create and develop training standards and opportunities for truck technicians and to enhance the professional image of the truck-maintenance industry.

“Our plan is to have a skills challenge at our fall meeting on an annual basis,” said Brian Strach, technical services manager of truck suspension systems at Hendrickson International and first vice chairman of the new committee.
