TomTom Debuts Electronic Driver Logs App
TomTom Telematics has launched a mobile application that enables drivers to electronically log their hours of service on Android and Apple devices.
The new app is designed to make it easier for trucking firms to comply with driver-log regulations while improving their dispatching and routing based on real-time information, the company said.
The HOS app, available for download on Google Play and the iTunes App Store, allows drivers to record when they are on duty, driving or resting.
TomTom’s Webfleet platform integrates the driver’s mobile device with in-vehicle technology to deliver an electronic record of miles driven, time on the road and progress on the route, the company said.
“In addition to ensuring companies are in compliance, [the app] provides an accurate, real-time view of what is happening on the road so dispatchers can make decisions with accurate information about arrival times and how long things should take,” Matt Gunzenhaeuser, TomTom Telematics’ director of sales, said in the March 16 announcement.
TomTom Telematics said it currently has more than 460,000 telematics subscriptions worldwide, including a strong position in the European market.
The business is a unit of TomTom NV, a Netherlands-based supplier of navigation and mapping products.
