Click here to write a Letter to the Editor.Freight railroads Union Pacific Railroad and Norfolk Southern Railway said Tuesday that they will launch a new intermodal train service in February that will add rail capacity and expand intermodal rail service between Los Angeles and the Southeast.
The new “sixth-morning” product between Los Angeles and Atlanta will complement existing service, the two said in a joint statement.UP runs in the West, while NS runs in the East.
The two said they will also increase capacity and improve service between UP’s Los Angeles terminals and NS terminals in Atlanta, Charlotte, N.C., Greensboro, N.C., Jacksonville, Fla., Savannah, Ga., Charleston, S.C., and Miami.The service will be effective Feb. 19, the railroads said.
