U.S. Border Security Costs Canadians Business, Time

lthough the Canadian trucking industry may face several regulatory changes in the years ahead that could improve operations for carriers, it’s unlikely that it will become less difficult for them to cross the U.S. border in the near future, said David Bradley, chief executive officer of the Canadian Trucking Alliance.

“We’ve seen Canadian truck drivers and carriers get right out of the transportation business because they are not able or willing to deal” with U.S. border security programs, he said.

Bradley said overlapping security requirements at U.S. ports of entry have been difficult and costly for Canadian companies, forcing some to cancel their cross-border operations entirely.
