W. Va. Delays Truck Registration Fees’ Due Date

The West Virginia Division of Motor Vehicles will delay the due date for annual registration payments for most trucks until Sept. 1, from the usual July 1 deadline, the Associated Press reported.

The fee for most trucks is $1,132.75. Gov. Joe Manchin (D) said the extension will help truckers manage expenses, and his office said diesel prices are hitting truckers more than average drivers, AP reported.

Diesel averages $4.85 a gallon in West Virginia, compared with $4.78 nationally, according to AAA.

The West Virginia DMV said the delay affects about 50,000 trucks, and while it might cost the state some interest, the agency still figures to get about $56.6 million from registrations, AP said.
