Publicly traded trailer manufacturer Wabash National Corp. said it is realigning its retail segment under its commercial trailer products and diversified products operations, and transitioning a company-owned retail store to an independent dealer.

Wabash National Trailer Centers in Colorado, Florida, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Texas will become part of the commercial trailer products segment, it said.

The Brenner Tank Services locations in Arkansas, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Texas and Wisconsin will join the diversified products segment, Wabash said.

“We believe this change in segment structure provides enhanced alignment between our business segments and their channel partners while supporting our strategic objective to grow the areas of our business that offer the most attractive margins and returns on invested capital,” Wabash CEO Dick Giromini said in a statement.

Also the Lafayette, Indiana-based company said the Wabash National Trailer Center in Phoenix will be transitioned during July to an independent dealer facility operated by TEC Equipment Inc., a truck and trailer dealership based in Portland, Oregon.

The Phoenix location will provide sales, parts and service for Wabash National, Transcraft and Benson brand trailers in Arizona, New Mexico and portions of Idaho, according to Wabash.

Wabash said it also transitioned three former branch locations in California and Oregon to TEC Equipment in 2014.

Wabash said as a result of the realignment, the former retail segment will no longer be reported as a separate business segment in Wabash National’s financial statements, and it will begin reporting the realigned segments in its second quarter 2016 filing with the Securities Exchange Commission.
