Wall St. Wonders If Truck Stocks Have Peaked

hile demand for freight hauling has been strong and trucking company profits have been on the rise, the outlook for trucking stocks is cloudy, said some industry analysts.

Stock pickers said share prices in trucking may be nearing or just past a peak as investors look to cash in on what has been a strong market for trucking stocks and as investors begin to shift funds to industries with more upside potential as the economy heats up.

“I believe we have already reached a turning point regarding how trucking stocks are going to perform,” said Thom Albrecht, a transportation analyst for BB&T Capital Markets in Richmond, Va.



“We really had a wonderful three-year period where most trucking stocks outperformed the broader market indexes. But they’re getting a little bit long in the tooth. I think from here on out, successful investors are going to have to be more stock specific.
