Aaron is from the Central Virginia rural county of Madison, which is known for having more cows than people. He went to UVa, where he worked in the sports department at The Cavalier Daily all four years of his collegiate career.
He graduated in 2010 with a degree in psychology, then promptly put that degree to work by landing a journalism job at The News & Advance in Lynchburg, Virginia, where he designed and edited sports pages. He made stops at The Daily Progress and then Richmond Times-Dispatch doing similar work before making the jump to digital journalism and the D.C. area in November 2018 due to the shaky state of the newspaper industry. He became a copy/digital editor for Circa.com but, ironically, got laid off in March 2019. He was lucky enough to find a home here at Transport Topics a month later. He enjoys rooting for the Wahoos, Cowboys, and Braves. He is also a big fan of Dave Matthews Band (25-plus shows big), and if you reference “Seinfeld” around him, you will become instant friends. Giddy up. He is a Content Manager, which combines the duties of a copy editor and a web editor/producer. He edits stories for TT’s print product and also prepares them for publishing to the website. He also posts articles to our social media accounts.
"It feels great to be working for a newspaper and website that holds a position of importance in the freight transportation industry. I also enjoy being able to combine my backgrounds in both print and online journalism in this position."
