AAA Report: Driving on Five Hours of Sleep as Dangerous as Driving Drunk

WASHINGTON — Drivers who skimp on just a couple of hours of sleep nearly double the risk of a crash, making drowsy driving about as dangerous as drunken driving, according to a report released Dec. 6.

NTSB Rules Crew Was Likely Asleep During Fatal Arkansas Freight Train Crash

WASHINGTON — A fatal collision of two Union Pacific freight trains in Arkansas resulted from a fatigued engineer and conductor who were both likely asleep aboard one of the trains, federal investigators ruled Dec. 6.

ARTBA Study Finds 58,000 US Bridges to be 'Structurally Deficient'

Nearly 10% of the country’s bridges – 58,495 out of 609,539 – were considered structurally deficient last year and needed repairs, the American Road and Transportation Builders Association reported Feb. 18.
