Mexico President Claudia Sheinbaum announced a plan to reduce the country’s imports from China in a bid to support local industry and align herself with the U.S. as a trade partner.

Sheinbaum, a former energy researcher who made the small car part of her pledges in her Oct. 1 inauguration address, said the goal is for all components to be made locally.
