With the debut of its HX series, International Truck has launched a new Class 8 truck for the first time since 2010, intending, it said, to regain its lead in the vocational market’s severe-service segment.

The U.S. retail diesel average price fell for the 12th consecutive week, dropping 4 cents a gallon to $2.031, less than 1 cent above the lowest price in the era of ultra-low-sulfur fuel, the Department of Energy reported.

New trailer orders in the United States reached 315,000, the second-highest annual total, while a growing backlog pushed total shipments to an annual record, ACT Research reported.

The U.S. average diesel retail price fell for the 11th consecutive week, dropping 4.1 cents a gallon to $2.071. That includes two regions that dropped below $2 a gallon for the first time in nearly seven years, the Department of Energy reported.

The U.S. average retail diesel price fell for the 10th consecutive week, down 6.5 cents a gallon to $2.112, leaving it at the lowest price since March 23, 2009, the Department of Energy reported Jan. 19.
