SAF-Holland SA stands to lose out in a bidding contest for Swedish truck-brake maker Haldex AB, after declining to follow a higher offer from German competitor ZF Friedrichshafen AG.

SAF-Holland SA has offered $495 million (4.2 billion kronor) to buy Haldex AB, a combination of truckmaking suppliers that could help match mechanical parts with sensors and electronic components as big rigs increasingly link up to the internet.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Haldex introduced its ModulT air disc brake line here for the United States. Haldex made the announcement Feb. 28 at the Technology & Maintenance Council’s annual meeting.
