Up to 1,000 jobs could be coming to Shelby Township, Michigan through the development of a more than 1-million-square-foot distribution center at a former automotive electronics supplier site.

LANSING, Mich. — Gov. Rick Snyder jumped on the speed train Jan. 5 when he signed a bill boosting the state's speed limit to 75 miles per hour on about 600 miles of highways in rural areas of the state. The bills also raise the maximum speed limit for trucks from 60 to 65 mph.

About 600 miles of Michigan freeways will see speed limits increase to 75 mph, and 900 miles of state highway will increase to 65 mph if Gov. Rick Snyder signs the collection of legislation that awaits his review.
