Volvo Trucks North America has begun a recall to of 23,003 units to deal with a potential clutch problem, the manufacturer advised the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Truck maker Navistar Inc. told the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration it is recalling 9,578 ProStar and TranStar trucks because of problems with S-cam tubes on steer-axle brake assemblies made by Meritor Inc.

Some motor carrier executives have said the sometimes maddening process of addressing truck recalls is eased by ready access to notifications about potential problems and the ability of some fleets to handle the work in-house.
