New home sales rose 5.7% in September to a two-year high, the Commerce Department said Wednesday.

Truck dealership Rush Enterprises’ third-quarter net income slipped from a year ago and the company said it plans to buy several Navistar truck dealerships in Ohio.

U.S. truck sales fell 9.1% to 14,491 in September, declining for the first time since December 2009 and ending a streak of 32 consecutive year-over-year increases, WardsAuto.com reported.

U.S. sales during the holiday season will slow to 4.1% this year, according to the National Retail Federation, due in part to unemployment and political uncertainties, Bloomberg reported Tuesday.

New home sales fell 0.3% in August but held near a two-year high, the Commerce Department said Wednesday.

Retail U.S. sales of new Class 8 trucks totaled 16,497 in August, the 32nd straight month of year-over-year growth, WardsAuto.com reported.

Existing home sales rose 7.8% in August to a two-year high, the National Association of Realtors said Wednesday.

Retail sales increased 0.9% in August, the Commerce Department said Friday.

U.S. retail medium-duty truck sales totaled 12,483 vehicles in July, a 15.8% improvement over the 10,779 sold a year earlier, WardsAuto.com reported.

U.S. retail heavy-duty truck sales rose 27.4% to 16,421 in July, continuing a 17-month trend of double-digit expansion, according to the latest survey from WardsAuto.com.
