Diversified truck manufacturer AB Volvo reported a surge in net income as well as record revenue for 2017 as truck demand remains high in Europe and is increasing in North America and Brazil.

Volvo AB boosted its forecast for truck markets in the U.S. and Europe this year as low fuel prices and interest rates push demand, a development that’s expected to put more strain on an already tight supply chain. The shares rose the most in three months.

Martin Weissburg, currently president of Volvo Construction Equipment, will become president of Mack Trucks effective June 1, 2018.

Truck makers highlighted growing demand for their equipment in third-quarter earnings reports even as they posted mixed results. One saw profitability slip but revenue climb, while two others reported an increase in net income and revenue.
