Canadian freight railroad Canadian Pacific’s fourth-quarter net income rose to C$82 million, or 47 Canadian cents per share, from C$15 million, or 8 cents, a year earlier.

Swift Transportation Co. said its fourth-quarter profit fell as expenses such as salaries, supplies and claims increased.

U.S. trailer manufacturers received 29,164 new orders in December, down 4.5% from the same month a year earlier but up 13.6% from November’s total, ACT Research Co. reported.
