Floods and road closures in the Pacific Northwest have hurt the trucking industry this winter, the Olympian newspaper reported.

Teamsters union members voted 2-to-1 to ratify a new five-year National Master Freight Agreement with major less-than-truckload carriers that trucking industry executives said gives unionized companies new flexibility to adapt to changing market conditions.

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. — NATSO, the national trade group representing truck stops and travel plazas, unveiled a new public education program here Jan. 24 as a way to help truck stops address drivers’ concerns, such as safety.

Logistics firm Expeditors International of Washington said its fourth-quarter profit rose 12% to $70.1 million, or 32 cents a share, from $62.6 million, or 26 cents, in the previous fourth quarter.
