Consumer confidence climbed this month to the highest level in a year, the New York-based Conference Board said Tuesday.

Roadrunner Transportation Systems said it has purchased Capital Transportation Logistics, a transportation management provider, for $6.25 million.

Third-party services provider Radiant Logistics said it has acquired New York counterpart ALBS Logistics. It’s the third acquisition made by Radiant in the past 10 months.

Trucking industry leaders, company associates and family members paid tribute to Don Schneider, the former president and CEO of Schneider National Inc., in a memorial service attended by an estimated 700 people at St. Norbert College in De Pere, Wis., on Feb. 15. Schneider died in January after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Consumer confidence rose in February, according to the Thomson Reuters/University of Michigan consumer sentiment index released Friday.

U.S. intermodal traffic declined 5.6% for the week ended Saturday from a year ago, the Association of American Railroads reported.

Echo Global Logistics said its fourth-quarter profit climbed 68.5% to $3.5 million, or 16 cents per share, from $2.1 million, or 9 cents, a year ago.

The expansion of the Panama Canal will have the greatest effect on shipments to a handful of states stretching from Ohio to Georgia but will offer only modest cost savings to shippers, a consultant to the U.S. Maritime Administration said.
