Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings Inc., a provider of outsourced aircraft and aviation operating services, has entered into a five-year agreement with FedEx Express to provide it with five 747-400 freighter aircraft for peak flying seasons beginning in 2017 and lasting through 2021.
Terms were not disclosed.
FedEx Express is the time-definite shipping option — for documents plus packages up to 150 pounds — from FedEx Corp., which ranks No. 2 on the Transport Topics Top 100 list of the largest U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.

“We have worked closely and successfully with FedEx for many years, but this is our first agreement that allows both companies to plan for the longer term,” Atlas Air CEO William Flynn said in a statement. The company is based in Purchase, New York.
Peak season flying generally occurs in December and potentially earlier. An agreement to provide five aircraft for the 2016 peak season flying is in place, according to Atlas Air.
