The national average diesel price dropped for the fifth consecutive week, falling 4.6 cents to reach $3.848 a gallon, according to Energy Information Administration data released May 13.
A gallon of diesel on average costs 4.9 cents less than it did at this time in 2023.
The average diesel price went down in nine of the 10 region in EIA’s weekly survey, with the exception being an increase of sixth-tenths of a cent in the Rocky Mountain area.
Three regions had decreases of at least 5 cents, the highest being 5.8 cents in the Gulf Coast.
Gasoline shed 3.5 cents a gallon on average to settle at $3.608. That's 7.2 cents more than it cost at this time a year ago.
